Curry County, New Mexico, is located on the high plains of eastern New Mexico. It is home to over 48,000 residents, including our Southwest Cheese employees and their families. Curry County offers an excellent choice of housing, retail businesses, schools, healthcare facilities, churches, entertainment and outdoor activities. The exceptional quality of life and friendly people of Curry County make it a special place to live and raise families.

The consistently-temperate climate of Curry County is hard-to-beat. With mild daytime temperatures, low humidity, lots of sunshine and few rainy days, our community is an ideal location for a variety of recreational activities.

Three Eastern University of New Mexico campuses are located in Curry County: Portales, Roswell and Ruidoso. The accredited programs offered at EUNM provide educational opportunities for Southwest Cheese employees and their families. Undergraduate and graduate programs are available for freshmen, transfer students, military personnel and their families, and international students. The EUNM Greyhounds host year-long sports events and an active schedule of arts programs for all to enjoy.

Cannon Air Force Base calls Curry County “home” for its more than 2,220 military personnel and their families. With a work force of over 4,000, Cannon Air Force Base is a major contributor to our local economy.

Clovis Rocks!

The City of Clovis is the County Seat of Curry County and the retail and service hub for the surrounding area. The community offers a great school system, superior healthcare facilities, diverse job opportunities, multiple housing options, challenging golf courses, and a variety of dining, shopping and entertainment options.

Clovis has always been involved in the arts – from the early days of artists like Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison who recorded at the famous Norman Petty Studios, to today's cultural events. The annual Clovis Music Festival offers three fun-filled days of music by top artists from today and yesterday. Clovis is also home to museums, theaters, cinemas and concert events.

A great school system challenges junior residents of Clovis in fifteen elementary schools, four junior high schools and two high schools. Clovis Community College also offers a variety of productive programs in vocational and industrial careers.

Clovis boasts 17 parks which include a wide variety of sports facilities and playing fields. The Roy Walker Recreation Center and Patriotic Outdoors sport venue offer plenty of activities for sports-minded individuals and families. Clovis is also home to the second largest zoo in the state.
